| Helen Davies says: We had a very interesting and fun evening
at our Friday 28th May 'Critique' evening. What was so good about it was the
wide variety of paintings on show to be critiqued by the members. We had an entry by Wendy a new member, it was small and exquisite - I believe she said it was 'a medieval kimono' done on parchment paper, lovely. Then one by one of the 'Grande Dames' of our society Peggy, which was a semi abstract oil, titled 'From my Sofa' on a box canvas. John's little still life in watercolour was a gem, the depths and the delicacy of his work a joy to see. Lawrence had a beautiful watercolour which was really appreciated. He also showed us his first attempt at water based - oil paint, after a break of 20 odd years of using oils. Jill's box canvas in acrylic - a moody magnificent sunset. |
Maureen's subtle shadings of shells within abstract
shapes. Irene's 'Canoes at Odiham' - a serene scene of wonderful shapes and summer atmosphere. Keith's acrylic painting ' Spotted Flycatcher' although beautifully painted, was thought by some to be not enhanced by its non sympathetic mount and frame. Bob's translucent water colour - he put down its success to our President Graham Scandrett's recent course in colours. We had a small show of what was produced at Graham's heavily attended 3 week course, which was interesting, but a lot of people were not aware that this was going to happen, so did not bring work along. Bob our programme secretary made a very good and jolly compere on the evening. |
